Hey Googler's

I have just noticed that Google.com is making or testing some changes in SERP results, When I searched for "job board" in Google.com I found something very unusual in google SERP results, the websites with .ie, .ca, co.uk TLD get high ranks in Google SERP even if they focus and define their business line or regions in TLD.(TLD shows that they are interested and provide services to their TLD specific regions or locations) ..

For example if we do search for “job board” keyword it shows results first results that is www.theitjobboard.com. Now When you study carefully you will notice that their title makes the user understrand that their services are only available for Europe market, so my question is why google is ranking this website at first position in GOOGLE.COM ? Nodoubt it should be at first position in GOOGLE.CO.UK/EUROPE and currently they are at first position there which means correct result with correct ranking but on the contrary,in Google.com this disappoint users who search particularly for specific locations like USA, India etc. as they want results for USA region and inreturn they get results for other regions like UK/Europe.

It would be great if all users would like to share their thoughts and feedback with me.

Google makes no bones about its new PC software competing with an earlier operating system: Is Chrome OS the beginning of the end of Android?

Google's plans to release computer software were instantly seen as an attempt to tread on Microsoft's turf. The impact of the new operating system, Chrome OS, probably won't be felt in Redmond any time soon. Where Chrome OS will have a more immediate—and, likely, profound—impact is in Google's own backyard: on a project called Android.

The company's efforts will now be divided between potentially competing operating systems, and some analysts speculate Google will de-emphasize Android for such devices as netbooks. Software developers may also be forced to choose between the two systems, with many favoring Chrome OS. As a result, the quality and versatility of Android may suffer and it may become a less attractive option for makers of computers and other electronics. Full Story

comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released a study of the social networking category in Russia, based on data from the comScore World Metrix audience measurement service. The study found Russia to have the world’s most engaged social networking audience, with visitors spending 6.6 hours and viewing 1,307 pages per visitor per month.

Two-Thirds of Global Internet Users Access Social Networking Sites

Of the 1.1 billion people age 15 and older worldwide who accessed the Internet from a home or work location in May 2009, 734.2 million visited at least one social networking site during the month, representing a penetration of 65 percent of the worldwide Internet audience. The Russian social networking audience had the highest engagement among the 40 individual countries reported by comScore, with an average of 6.6 hours and 1,307 pages consumed per visitor. Brazil ranked close behind at 6.3 hours, followed by Canada (5.6 hours), Puerto Rico (5.3 hours) and Spain (5.3 hours).

“Social networking has become a popular online pastime not only in mature Internet markets like North America, but also in developing, high-growth Internet markets such as Russia,” said Mike Read, SVP & managing director, comScore Europe. “In a country as geographically large as Russia, social networking represents a way of connecting people from one corner of the country to the other. The sudden death of pop music icon Michael Jackson on Thursday has triggered what is expected to be the first of numerous spam campaigns and malware attacks on the Web, security experts say.

Less than 24 hours after the news of Jackson's death broke in mainstream media, malware writers launched spam e-mails featuring the words "Michael Jackson" in the subject lines, intended to trick users into buying bogus products or clicking malicious files to distribute malware.

One such attack, detected by researchers at security company Websense, purports to offer recipients links to unpublished Michael Jackson videos and pictures. The spam e-mail messages entice users to click on a link that appears to lead them to a YouTube video featuring the pop singer, but instead sends them to a Trojan downloader hosted on a compromised Web site. The file, embedded in the spam e-mail, called Michael.Jackson.video, is located on a legitimate news Web site hosted in Australia. Upon opening the file, users are taken to the legitimate site while information-stealing malware is silently installed in the background.

Meanwhile, experts at Symantec say that they've already seen an explosion of spam using Michael Jackson's name in subject lines in an attempt to lure users to open messages soliciting fake pharmaceuticals, fake antivirus software and other products unrelated to the subject header. And they expect to see a sharp spike in the next 24 to 48 hours.

IBM/Lotus Wednesday released a 3D virtual environment conferencing service complete with avatars and whiteboards as part of its Sametime line of real-time collaboration software.

The company also said next week it will introduce LotusLive Connections, a hosted version of its social software, including instant messaging, file sharing and activities.

"We are putting social networking in the cloud," said Bob Picciano, general manager of IBM Lotus Software.

Lotus, which made its announcements during the Enterprise 2.0 conference in Boston, also showed new micro-blogging features for Lotus Connections 2.5, its on-premises version of the software.

Picciano said Lotus would offer a Notes plug-in so users can have micro-blogging as part of their Notes sidebar along with Sametime, telepresence and third-party applications such as Twitter.

LotusLive Connections includes file storage and sharing, activities management, online charts and business contact capabilities. IBM offers a similar service called LotusLive Engage, which includes all the features of LotusLive Connections along with Web conferencing and application sharing.

Pricing for LotusLive Connections will start at $10.

IBM's new Virtual Collaboration for Lotus Sametime (VCS), or Sametime 3D, is a hosted service that provides virtual boardrooms, auditoriums or collaboration spaces with the ability to set up meetings via Sametime clients. Users can tap their Sametime contact lists to invite participants. The service supports the Lotus Sametime 8.0.1 client or later.

Meetings participants can use text or voice chat, share documents and take notes on a virtual flip chart. Sametime 3D has a "brainstorming wall" and the ability to vote on ideas.

Lotus quietly demonstrated the technology in January at its Lotusphere conference with the caveat that the technology might never see the light of day. Now six months later, the service is live. IBM said more than 2,500 IBM employees have been testing the service since February.

In addition, IBM officials say they are working with Vivox to add an option for integrated voice using VoIP.

IBM/Lotus officials plan to release other hosted services this year, but have not detailed what functionality they will provide. IBM/Lotus also promised in January other bundles targeted at specific industries and business needs.

Picciano said he has nothing to announce about upcoming services.
